Clay County Business DirectoryFlora Illinois Rich Heritage
Flora, IL was established in 1854 by Samuel White, who donated land to the City of Flora for several buildings and the city park. The City Park, at that time called the Public Square, is present day Library Park where Flora Public Library is located.
This donation served as the anchor for the town's early growth. Mr. White's vision allowed for the construction of the original library, which remains a landmark of education and culture.
